New Board Members Announced at Annual Meeting

Needham, Mass. - Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham (BID Needham) welcomed three new members of the Board of Trustees: Needham residents Ginny Caggiano, Jeremy Cramer and John Wright. The hospital also welcomed four new members of the Board of Advisors: Frank Antin, Elisabeth Brewer, MD, David Geisinger, and Christopher Teachout. The hospital recognized outgoing Board of Advisors Chair, Samantha Trotman Burman, and recognized Ginny Caggiano as the incoming chair. The transition was announced at the Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees and Advisors.

“We are grateful to these members of our community for offering their time, effort, and resources to benefit the hospital,” said John Fogarty, president, BID Needham. “We look forward to the support of our new board members while we continue our mission to offer extraordinary care to our local community.”

“We are in a good position to grow strategically over the next five years, guided by our new board members,” said Virginia Carnahan, chair, Board of Trustees. “We recently expanded our digestive healthcare services in response to community need. That is just the beginning of how we hope to grow.”

In addition to recognizing the new Board members, the Annual Meeting also brought together a panel of digestive health physicians to celebrate the expansion of the existing digestive health clinical team at BID Needham, with the addition of Michael Curry, MD, Section Chief of Hepatology (Liver) services at BIDMC and Daniel Wong, MD with expertise in colorectal surgery.

The physicians offered insight on common digestive health issues affecting the population, including colon and liver diseases, as well as obesity-related diseases. The discussion was moderated by Lawrence Ward, Ed.D, Vice President and Dean of Campus Life at Babson College and a BID Needham Board of Advisors member. Panelists were Michael Curry, MD, section chief of Hepatology at BIDMC and a gastroenterologist at BID Needham, Angela Fitch, MC, FACP, FOMA, chief medical officer and co-founder, Knownwell and President of the Obesity Medicine Association, Evangelos Messaris, MD, PhD, FACS, FASCRS, chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at BIDMC and a colorectal surgeon at BID Needham, and Sonal Ullman, MD, president of the medical staff at BID Needham, and a gastroenterologist at BID Needham.

About Our Trustees

Ginny Caggiano is the founder and principal of Crackerjack Communications, a marketing communications firm in Wellesley. Caggiano holds a degree in Marketing and Communications from Babson College and has served as a member of the BID Needham Board of Advisors since 2015. Caggiano will serve as the Chair of the Board of Advisors at BID Needham for the next three years.

Jeremy Cramer is the CEO of Exponential Philanthropy, where he empowers philanthropists to realize their aspirations, mentors non-profit leaders, and provides counsel to organizations to help them realize their strategic and revenue-raising potential. Cramer serves as Philanthropic Advisor to The Crimson Lion / Lavine Family Foundation and partners with families and companies to execute a comprehensive philanthropic strategy.

John Wright is currently a Partner and the Global Head of Credit Investments at Bain Capital Credit. Wright received a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder. Wright is also a member of Boston Children’s Hospital Philanthropic Board of Advisors and a member of the Board of Trustees for Dedham Country Day School.

About Our Advisors

Francis Antin is a retired business executive who spent the majority of his career in the financial services community in Boston, most recently with BNY Mellon as president and chief executive officer of the Boston Company Asset Management. Antin and his wife are actively involved with the Nativity Preparatory School of New Bedford. Antin has also served on the BID Needham Board of Trustees.

Elisabeth Brewer, MD, is one of two physicians at MD2 Wellesley, a concierge internal medicine practice. Brewer holds the unique distinction of being board-certified in Internal Medicine, a Diplomat of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a member of the American College of Physicians.

David Geisinger is a Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting LLP, leading the Experience Management Market Offering and overseeing the Healthcare practice for Deloitte Digital. Geisinger also serves on the board of Larz Anderson Auto Museum.

Christopher Teachout is Vice President of Business Banking at Dedham Savings Bank, and has served in similar roles at Direct Federal Credit Union and Needham Bank. He served 9 years on the Board of Directors for the Charles River Chamber, serving as Chair twice.
