Hope Ricciotti, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist and cookbook author, will speak March 15 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham on the impact that eating right - and eating well - can have on a woman's health.

In her talk, "Eating for Health and Pleasure at Every Stage of Life," Dr. Ricciotti will highlight changes in nutritional requirements as we progress from childhood through old age. Dr. Ricciotti will discuss what we should eat during different life phases, and will provide do's and don't for parents trying to help their kids develop good eating habits. She will also address the question of why we gain weight as we age, and explain how to shed pounds without sacrificing the pleasure of good food.

Dr. Ricciotti's OB/GYN practice is based at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She and her husband, Vincent Connelly, a professional chef, are the authors of four cookbooks published by Norton: The Pregnancy Cookbook (1996), The Menopause Cookbook (2000), The Breast Cancer Prevention Cookbook (2002) and The Healthy Family Cookbook (2004).

The free public lecture is part of the Needham hospital's "Aging Gracefully for Young and Old" series. It will be held from 7-8 p.m. in the Dickerson Room at BID-Needham, 148 Chestnut Street, Needham. For more information, call 781-453-3622.
