Uncompromised Surgical Excellence

The Surgical Pavilion at BID Needham brings together exceptional surgical expertise in a patient-centered environment with the convenience of a community setting. Newly built operating room suites utilize the latest technologies, including specialized equipment for minimally invasive procedures, image-guided, and endoscopic procedures. New and enlarged preoperative rooms and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), located next to the operating rooms, improve service efficiency.

Our board-certified surgeons offer surgical expertise rarely found in a community setting. Trained at some of the nation’s leading medical schools, many are Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Recognized Nationally for Quality

BID Needham isn’t just leading the way locally in surgical excellence, but nationally as well. The Leapfrog Group, a leading independent organization that evaluates healthcare quality, recognized us with an “A” grade in the Fall 2015 Hospital Safety Score, one of the most significant honors a hospital can achieve, and a leading indicator of patient safety and clinical quality.

We are also ranked in the “Top Tier” by leading area health insurance organizations for high-quality care at the best value. And our patient satisfaction survey, conducted by Press Ganey, the nationally recognized third-party organization, reveals a 94% likelihood to recommend surgical services and a 93% patient satisfaction rating for surgery.

Teamwork and Collaboration Centered Around You

Patients tell us they feel the power of teamwork here at the Surgical Pavilion. Surgeons, nurses and surgical staff collaborate on your care to keep you informed, comfortable and confident. Our surgical team is a tight-knit group that works in sync to provide you the best possible patient experience. Our nursing care team consists of registered nurses, surgical technicians and qualified ancillary staff working together with surgical and anesthesia physicians. The scope of nursing practice in the preoperative area includes preoperative assessment and planning, intra-operative intervention, postoperative assessment and intervention, discharge planning and documentation to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.

Range of Surgeries

We offer inpatient and outpatient surgeries, with 24 hour availability for critically ill or injured patients who require immediate attention. We care for individuals of all ages, but in children 15 years and younger, we only provide minor outpatient surgery.

  • Hi-Tech Rooms and Devices: Two new operating rooms feature computer-integrated data and systems with technology to support more minimally invasive, image-guided and endoscopic procedures.
  • More Space: The facility features new and expanded preoperative rooms and post-anesthesia care units (PACU), and a spacious, modern waiting area surrounded by natural light.
  • Smoother Flow: The preop rooms and the PACU are located next to the operating rooms, providing a more efficient flow within the area.
  • Advanced Surgery: The new facilities, equipment and service efficiency allow for more advanced surgeries for cancer and other conditions such as colorectal, orthopaedic, urologic and surgery related to ear, nose and throat and other procedures.
