The Sleep Center at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham provides a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory for the diagnosis and clinical management of sleep disorders. Our center, accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities to manage all types of sleep disorders. It is a site for an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited sleep medicine training program.

The sleep laboratory is located at the BID-Needham with outpatient sleep clinics at BIDMC-Boston East Campus, BID-Chestnut Hill, and BID-Needham. In-patient sleep consult services are also available at BIDMC-Boston. Overflow sleep laboratory beds are available at Neurocare Center for Sleep-Newton and BID-Milton. A home sleep testing service runs through Neurocare-Newton. The center physicians work with a number of homecare companies for the home management of sleep apnea.

  • REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD)

  • Restless Legs Syndrome

Serious consequences

Untreated sleep disorders can increase the likelihood of critical medical consequences, such as an irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, heart failure, heart attack, and stroke. In addition, difficulty maintaining vigilant attention, organizing and executing tasks, and memory impairment can occur.
