The Clinical Laboratory/Division of Pathology is an integral part of the patient care provided by Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham. The laboratory provides state of the art testing services for both in-patients and outpatients. These services include anatomical pathology, cytopathology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, transfusion medicine and immunology.
The laboratory's affiliation with the Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides BID Needham patients with direct access to advanced resources and diagnostic testing that are only available within an academic institution, as well as a strong working relationship with pathologists who have expertise in highly specialized areas of diagnostic pathology and laboratory medicine.
The BID Needham laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals, American Association of Blood Banks, and Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Outpatient Lab Services
Our Outpatient Laboratory located within the hospital on the ground floor, presents a comfortable, convenient setting for your laboratory testing needs. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis. Physician's orders are required for all laboratory tests.
Once the samples are obtained, they are sent to the main laboratory for testing, and results are submitted directly to the ordering physician.
Registration for outpatient laboratory services occurs at the registration office. Most insurance plans are accepted.
