Karl W. Sorenson is the Medical Director at the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at BID–Needham. Dr. Sorenson specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of complex wounds. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Preventive Medicine with a subspecialty certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Sorenson earned his MD at Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland), and completed his internship at Sir Patrick Duns Hospital in Dublin, and his residency in General Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. His clinical interests include wound care, and hyperbaric medicine. Dr. Sorenson joined the staff at BID–Needham on Feb. 11, 2016.

Dr. Giurini is also chief of the Division of Podiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Giurini is an expert in the field of diabetic foot disease and, specifically, reconstructive surgery of the diabetic foot. As a researcher, he is currently investigating the role of neuropeptides (cells released from the peripheral nervous system that aid in the activation and growth of skin cells) in would healing in people with diabetes. Dr. Giurini earned his DPM at the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in podiatric medicine and surgery and a fellowship in diabetic foot problems and research at Deaconess Hospital. He is an associate clinical professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Voltaire is a family medicine physician specializing in wound care. As a board certified Osteopathic Family Physician, Dr. Voltaire is an expert in providing high quality wound care using a variety of procedural skills. Dr. Voltaire earned her degree in Osteopathic Medicine at the Nova Southeastern University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Rochester Regional Health, United Memorial Medical Center.
