Oncology Social Work provides psychosocial services to patients, families and significant others facing a potential or actual diagnosis of cancer. Oncology social workers help patients adjust to illness, maintain their daily lives and make the best use of health care and community resources. All oncology social workers at BID Cancer Center-Needham are Oncology Social Work (OSW)-certified.
OSW’s offer individual, family and group counseling and advocate for patients’ needs. They provide case management, linking patients with the variety of services to meet many kinds of needs. They also collaborate with other cancer care professionals to plan treatment.
In addition to individual appointments, we offer a number of programs and support groups, which are valuable opportunities for patients to share common experiences.
