Recognized by the American Heart and American Stroke Associations for lifesaving stroke care, the Emergency Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham is known for its advanced medical technology, child-friendly atmosphere, shorter wait times and a direct link to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. All Emergency Department physicians are board-certified and members of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
The Emergency Department (ED) has 19 private treatment rooms, a separate pediatric waiting room and a double ambulance bay with direct access to a fully equipped trauma room.

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham is recognized locally and nationally for its exceptional stroke care. The BID–Needham Stroke team has been recognized each year, over the past three years, with the Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart and American Stroke Associations. In addition the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has designated BID–Needham a Certified Stroke Designated Facility with the Defect-free Care Award from the Stroke Collaborative Reaching for Excellence, or SCORE, a voluntary statewide quality improvement collaborative.
The Emergency Room is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
