Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham Presents
"A Guide to Aging Gracefully"
A Free Lecture By Tomas Lichauco, M.D.
Thursday, January 19, 7-8 p.m. Dickerson Room, BID-Needham 148 Chestnut Street, Needham 781-453-3622

Family Physician Tomas Lichauco, M.D., in a free lecture January 19, will provide a medical and philosophical perspective on the changes we can expect as the years go by and how to manage those changes.

Dr. Lichauco will examine the pluses and minuses of aging. While age is linked to physical decline in areas such as vision, hearing, pulmonary capacity and immune system function, it is also associated with experience and wisdom.

"A guide to Getting Older" is one of a series of lectures on the topic "Aging Gracefully for Young and Old" sponsored by Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham. For more information on the series, go to Our Community Calendar

Dr. Lichauco will discuss why some people seem to age gracefully while others fight aging all the way and seem to hate it. He will expose common myths surrounding the aging process and explore the many factors that contribute to healthy aging. Although genetics clearly plays a role, according to Dr. Lichauco, other factors may be even more important such as avoiding disease and disability; keeping the mind, body and spirit fit; and staying actively involved in life.

Dr. Lichauco, a board-certified family physician, practices in Dedham and is a member of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham medical staff.

The lecture will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, January 19, in the Dickerson Room at BID-Needham. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 781-453-3622.
