Star-Studded Dream BIG Gala A HUGE Success
Raising Funds to Support New BID Cancer Center & Surgical Pavilion
Needham—A rousing performance from The Voice finalist and Island Recording artist Christina Grimmie brought down the house and opened up generous hearts at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham’s Dream BIG Gala on Saturday night.
“Our annual Gala is always a special night for the hospital and a true celebration of people coming together to make a big impact,” said BID-Needham President and CEO John Fogarty. “We are grateful for the leadership of our Committee Chairs, Heidi and Scott Schuster, our Vice Chairs, Tony and Nancy Cavallaro, and for the hard work of our Gala committee.”
More than 700 people attended the star-studded Gala at The Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel where Christina Grimmie captivated the crowd during an amazing performance and graciously signed autographs and posed for photographs with attendees. Dancing went into the evening to the sounds of the fabulous NYC-based band Sound House.
“This was a fabulous evening for our guests and for the hospital,” said Scott Schuster, Gala Event Chair and Founder and President of Needham-based Wingate Healthcare and The Residences at Wingate in Needham and a member of the BID-Needham Board of Advisors. “The music, the food, the community support with over 700 attendees coupled with their spirited bidding made this a really fun and exciting evening while supporting in a BIG way,the hospital that brings world-class health care, close to home in the heart of Needham.”
The crowd responded enthusiastically to the always-hilarious team of Susan Wornick and Kiss 108’s Billy Costa who entertained and encouraged some fun bidding wars on several items including a trip to Hollywood for a studio taping of the “Big Bang Theory,” and a private suite at Fenway Park. “The money raised at the Dream BIG Gala will go towards the new BID Cancer Center and Surgical Pavilion in Needham, allowing us to bring academic medical center cancer care and more advanced surgeries to our community,” said Samantha Sherman, Chief Development and Marketing Officer at BID-Needham.
